Mitch BoldToronto tattoo artist.
The hand behind the work.
Custom fine line, realism and blackwork in Toronto’s west end — black and grey only, one client at a time, by appointment. Every piece is drawn for you before the machine starts, and nothing gets tattooed that I have not told you the truth about first.
Quiet by design
The first thing you notice is the pace. It is quiet. No crowd, no walk-ins popping in.
I book one client at a time. When it is your appointment, it is your time. We talk through your idea, pull up references, sketch on the iPad or straight on your skin.
Six years in the room
I have been tattooing for six years. Before that, I was drawing, painting and making art in every way I could. I picked up a tattoo machine once and did not put it down. I became obsessed with learning how to translate fine detail and real texture onto skin.
I learned at SJ Tattoo Studio in Toronto from the artists there. I did not have a formal apprenticeship, I learned by watching, asking questions and working hard.
Clean line, deep shadow
Fine line realism is what I am known for. Clean lines, clear detail, and work that still looks sharp when you step back.
I like pieces that sit with the body and follow its shape. Placement, flow and how a tattoo moves with you matter as much as the design itself.
Nothing traced, nothing borrowed
You tell me what you are thinking: subject, size, feeling, where you want it. I look at your skin, muscle movement and how that area will age.
If you bring me a reference, I will not copy it line for line. I use it as a starting point to build something that fits your body and tells your version of that story.
The day is yours
On the day, we start by going over the design and placement again. You see the stencil, we check it from every angle, and we only move forward when it feels right. The setup is clean and laid out with care.
During the tattoo, you can talk, put headphones in, or just zone out. I keep you updated on how long each part will take and where we are at. If you need a break, we take one. There is no timer running in the background pushing us to rush.
Who I am a good fit for
- You want fine line, realism, dark or traditional-inspired work
- You are open to hearing what will and will not work long term
- You like the idea of one-on-one time with your artist
- You want clear pricing and policies upfront
I am probably not your artist if you want bright full-colour pieces, spur-of-the-moment walk-ins, or a big group session. It is better for both of us if you find someone whose style matches what you want.
People come to me for specific styles. I turn down colour ink pieces. Saying no to some things lets me go deeper on fine line, realism, blackwork and traditional-inspired work. If your idea fits that lane, we can make something strong.
Three steps to the chair.
By appointment, never walk-in. Nothing is tattooed that I have not drawn for you first.
