fine line,realism,blackwork
Fine line traditional is my main style choice. Realism and blackwork come next. I work in black and grey only, by appointment at 1800 Davenport Rd, Unit 6, Toronto.
I am Mitch, the artist behind Mitch Bold Tattoos. I do not take walk-ins. You bring the idea, and I build the design and the placement around your body.
Start With How You Want It To Look
I settle the style before anything else. A saved image is a good place to begin.
Bring references and tell me what the piece means to you. I will tell you which style the idea belongs in and how it should be built.
The Styles I Focus On
Fine Line Traditional Tattoos
I draw classic tattoo subjects with a lighter line weight. Roses, daggers, snakes, tigers and skulls all sit well in this style. I keep the outline thin and build the depth with layered shading.
The motifs come straight out of traditional tattooing, redrawn at a weight that suits the placement you choose.
Realism Tattoos
Realism is a question of light, shadow and shape. I build it with smooth gradients and strong references.
I work from portraits, animals, statues and hands. If you have a reference with strong contrast in it, I can translate that into a tattoo that sits well on the body.
Dark / Blackwork Tattoos
Blackwork runs on solid black and heavy contrast, with negative space as part of the design. It can be simple or dense, and either way it reads clearly from across a room.
I like this style for bold symbols, graphic designs, snakes, flora and fauna, and abstract compositions that wrap an arm or a leg.
Modern / Contemporary Tattoos
This is where the styles blend. A single piece might carry fine line work, a traditional subject, a realism passage and a graphic shape holding it together.
If the references you have saved sit in several boxes at once, modern work usually makes sense of them.
Large-Scale, Sleeves & Multi-Session Work
Some ideas need more than one sitting. Sleeves, leg pieces, back pieces and multi-panel concepts get built in stages.
We map the whole plan first, including the anchor points and where the detail sits. Then we book the sessions around your schedule and your healing.
I look at how the piece connects shoulder to wrist, or hip to ankle, so it reads as one tattoo.
Custom Design Tattoos
Custom work is the main thing I do. Every custom piece is drawn for the person wearing it, around their idea and the space it has to live in. I also tattoo my own flash sheets by appointment, and at events when I am booked to work one. If you bring an exact design and want it copied line for line, I will not be the right artist.
Bring me a concept, a handful of images, a sentence or a story. I sketch from there and keep refining until the design fits you and fits how I tattoo.
Touch-Ups
If I did the original piece, you get a free touch-up within one month of the tattoo. Email me to book it.
Where Your Idea Fits
I decline a piece when the size or the placement means the detail will blur as it settles. That judgment is part of the job.
If you are unsure where your idea sits, send it anyway. If I am not the right artist for it, I will tell you so you can keep looking.
How Booking Works
1. Free 10 To 15 Minute Consultation
Every project starts with a short consultation, by video or in person. You can show me references and ask whatever you need to ask.
I will be honest about what ages well and what size and placement make sense on your body.
2. Deposit & Booking
When you are ready to hold a date, I take a deposit: $100 for small pieces, $200 for medium, $400 for a full day. Each one is applied to the final price and is refundable when you give 72 hours' notice.
If something comes up, you can reschedule with 72 hours' notice. A late cancellation or a no-show means I keep the deposit, and a new deposit rebooks you. There is no card on file and no further charge.
3. On The Day
Appointments run Monday to Saturday, 12 to 8. Everyone I tattoo is 18 or over and brings government photo ID.
We go through the design together before I set up. Only one client is booked into that block, so the time is yours.
Aftercare questions come to me at mitchbold.ink@gmail.com and I will answer them. Anyone seeing signs of infection should see a doctor.
Pricing At A Glance
- The minimum charge is $200.
- I do not charge HST.
Final cost comes down to size, detail and placement. An estimate follows the consultation.
If This Is Your First Tattoo
