tattoo artist near north york
You know the vibe you want for your next tattoo. Clean lines. Real detail. Something that fits your body instead of looking dropped on top. You searched “tattoo north york” and now you are deciding if it is worth heading a bit further south for the right artist.
My name is Mitch. I tattoo by appointment at 1800 Davenport Rd, Unit 6 in Toronto. From North York, Google Maps puts that at about a 23 minute drive. If you are coming down Yonge, Dufferin, or the Allen, it is a straight shot into the west end.
I work in fine line, realism and dark blackwork. No colour. Just clean, high-detail tattoos that age well and feel like they belong on you.

Not every north york tattoo shop will say no
If you walk into a busy north york tattoo shop, most will fit you in if they can. They have to keep multiple artists busy. I do the opposite.
I book one client at a time. I look at your references, then tell you honestly what will hold, what will blur and what I would change. If your idea will not age well, I say so.
That focus is why people drive in from North York, Etobicoke and Vaughan instead of picking the closest shop in a mall. You are not just getting time in a chair. You are getting six years of practice in fine line and realism focused on one piece: yours.
What I do with fine line and realism
When someone finds me searching “north york tattoo” or “north york ink”, it is almost always for one of three things.
Fine line pieces
You might want a small but detailed tattoo: script, a symbol, a delicate floral, something minimal that still feels intentional. Fine line work is unforgiving. The needle has to move with confidence. The lines have to sit in the right layer of the skin or they spread.
I spend time on placement before I ever set up my machine. I look at how the muscle moves under the skin so the line still reads clean when you twist, bend or raise your arm.
Realism and portrait-style work
If you are thinking realism, you are probably already scrolling past a lot of examples. The problem is that in a few years, soft shading can turn to a grey cloud if it is rushed or overworked.
My realism sits in the fine-line space. I like contrast, structure and detail. I work from clear references and build something that fits the body part you chose.
Dark and blackwork
Blackwork is where I push more. Larger fields of black, bolder contrasts, pieces that carry weight from a distance and still hold detail up close. If you are coming from North York for a sleeve or multi-session piece, this is likely what you are looking for.
This is also where I turn down the most ideas. Big black areas need thought. I use composition to follow the shape of your arm, chest or leg so the tattoo adds to your structure instead of fighting it.
What it feels like to sit with me
The room is quiet. No walk-in crowd, no one leaning over your shoulder. You and I go over the stencil together. I place it, you move around, we adjust until it feels right.
While I work, I keep you updated on where I am and how long each part should take. If you need a break, you say so. The pace is steady. Nothing rushed.
Every tattoo comes with a free check-in and, if needed, a touch-up within one month. I want to see how the piece is healing on your skin.
Why north york clients drive to Davenport
If you are searching “tattoo shops in north york” or scrolling addresses like 4852a Yonge St, North York, ON M2N 5N2, you are probably comparing options. You have shops closer to home. So here is why driving to Davenport for your ink can make sense.
I have six years of tattooing behind me, learned hands-on at SJ Tattoo Studio in Toronto with artists I respected. I focused on fine line, realism and blackwork from the start and turned down colour pieces that did not fit that lane. That narrow focus is what you feel in the finished tattoo.
If you bring me a reference, I will not copy it line for line. I take the idea, then redraw it for your body and your placement so the piece has its own life.
If you are driving 23 minutes from North York, it should be for an artist with a point of view.
How the process works when you are coming from North York
1. Quick consult
You start with a free 10–15 minute consult, video or in person. You tell me what you have in mind, show me any references and tell me roughly where you want it.
I look at the idea, your skin and your placement, then give you direct feedback. If we both feel good about it, we talk size, detail and how many sessions it might take.
2. Deposit and booking
To hold a date, there is a deposit:
- $100 for small pieces
- $200 for medium work
- $400 for a full day session
That amount comes off the final price. There is no HST added. If you need to move your appointment, you can reschedule with 72 hours’ notice. For late cancellations or no-shows, I keep the deposit and you leave a new one to rebook. No card on file and no extra surprise charge.
3. Tattoo day
You arrive at 1800 Davenport Rd, Unit 6. Bring government photo ID; I only tattoo clients 18 and over. We review the final design, adjust the stencil if needed and only start when you are happy with the plan.
4. Aftercare and touch-up
You leave with clear aftercare instructions. If anything looks off while it is healing, you send me a photo or message me on Instagram @mitchboldtattoos. If a touch-up is needed within a month on my own work, it is free.

How far is your location from north york tattoo shops on Yonge?
I am not on Yonge Street. I work by appointment at 1800 Davenport Rd, Unit 6, which is southwest of most tattoo shops in North York. Many clients come down Yonge or Dufferin, then cut across to Davenport. Exact routes and times will depend on where you are starting from.
Is your setup different from a typical north york tattoo shop?
Yes. Mitch Bold Tattoos is my personal artist brand in a shared space in Toronto. I work by appointment only and book one client at a time so the session stays focused.
Where do I park if I am driving from North York?
There is no dedicated parking information I can publish here. Most North York clients driving to see me at 1800 Davenport Rd, Unit 6 use nearby street or area parking and give themselves extra time to find a spot. If parking is a concern, mention it in your consult and I can share what other clients usually do.
What styles do you offer for north york clients?
I focus on fine line tattoos, realism tattoos and darker blackwork. I do custom designs, sleeves and multi-session pieces, plus touch-ups on my own work. I do not offer colour tattoos. If your idea fits those styles, I can usually adapt it.

You book the same way as anyone in Toronto. Start with a free consult through the booking page so I can see your idea and placement. Once we agree on a direction, you leave a deposit to hold your date. You can always email me at mitchbold.ink@gmail.com if you have questions before you make the drive from North York.
